Why GM failed

I have never bought an American car and this episode of This American Life explains why. Short-sighted and shockingly self-interested unions and management destroyed what little chance they had to move the company way from the old Ford assembly line model.  The lesson here are not exclusive to the auto manufacturing. They apply to any business, even an interactive agency, like the one I'm currently working.

  1. Work in small teams
  2. Encourage improvement (No matter how big or small)
  3. Trust and empower individuals to make decisions on their own
  4. Create support systems for the main line of work
